The Kitchn: The 3 Store-Bought Salad Dressings You Should Always Have in Your Fridge

This is a quick summary of my monthly column in The Kitchn. If you’d like to dive into the full article, you can read it here.
I’m a Registered Dietitian — Here Are the 3 Best Store-Bought Salad Dressings to Keep in Your Fridge
Making homemade salad dressings is quick and delicious, but sometimes you just need a ready-to-use option. As a registered dietitian, I look for bottled dressings that are flavorful, versatile, and most importantly, lower in sodium and added sugar. After reviewing nutrition labels at a local grocery store, these three store-bought salad dressings came out on top:
- Bragg Organic Ginger & Sesame Dressing – A tangy, umami-rich blend made with apple cider vinegar, coconut aminos, honey, garlic, and sesame. Great for salads, grain bowls, and marinades.
- Marie’s Creamy Ranch – A classic ranch that’s lower in sodium (115mg per serving) with no added sugars. Creamy, herbaceous, and helps your body absorb fat-soluble vitamins from veggies.
- Cindy’s Kitchen Balsamic Vinaigrette – A rich yet balanced vinaigrette with balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, mustard, turmeric, and honey. It also contains omega-3–rich Menhaden oil for added nutrition.
These healthier bottled dressings prove that store-bought doesn’t have to mean overly salty or sugary. Keeping one (or all three!) in your fridge can make eating vegetables easier, tastier, and more nourishing.
That’s the highlight — but there’s more detail in the full piece. If you’d like to see the complete article, head over to The Kitchn here.
